Anxiety disorders affect over 40 million adults in any given year. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown to be the empirically validated psychotherapy treatment of choice for anxiety disorders. This workshop will review the relevant concepts in both cognitive and behavioral therapy as they apply to anxiety disorders. Workshop attendees will learn how to develop a thorough case conceptualization of anxiety disorder using the CBT model. The CBT treatment of individual anxiety disorders, including Specific Phobia, Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder will be covered.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to describe CBT with simple phobias.
  2. Participants will learn the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder.
  3. Participants will be able to apply CBT techniques to treat social anxiety disorder.
