SWK 786: Advanced Social Work Practice With Couples And Families 3 credits This course focuses on clinical practice with families and couples. The family/couple system is seen as the arena and resource for change. The class explores how different family therapy approaches address issues of diversity and the needs of populations at risk. It recognizes economic and social justice factors as a context for assessment and practice. Integration of major overarching concepts common to all approaches are stressed. Issues of gender, class, race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation are interwoven throughout the course in readings, case materials, and lecture content.
