Differences in learning style, theoretical approach, cultural identity and organizational stress are but a few of the elements that can inadvertently trigger conflict in the supervisory relationship. During this workshop, a comprehensive framework for understanding and identifying the core concerns that underlie most conflicts will be presented. Through the use of theoretical, interactive and experimental activities, a toolbox of skills and strategies will be offered that elicit the emotional resilience needed to move beyond sources of stress, tension and misunderstanding.

About the Instructor:
Patricia O’Dell, LCSW is the clinical coordinator and supervisor of the Adult and Family Treatment Program at Family Service of Morris County in Morristown, N.J. and maintains a private practice.  Previously she worked at Rutgers University, School of Social Work, where she taught numerous graduate-level courses and served as assistant dean and director of field education.  She has given many workshops and presentations for NASW and other professional groups on a variety of topics including clinical supervision, ethics and cultural competency.  She is a contributing author of the book, Learning to Teach, Teaching to Learn, published by CSWE.

Credentialing Information: Program information has been submitted for approval to the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services Education and Training for 6 training credits toward earning or recredentialing the CASAC.

Continuing Education Credits: 6 Continuing Education Credits will be given through the New York State Chapter of the NASW. Certificates of Attendance will be issued day of program.
