I welcome you to the School of Social Work Web site on behalf of our faculty, staff, and students.
Let me congratulate you for choosing a career in social workan interesting, dynamic, and rewarding profession that makes a real difference in people's lives. Now that you have selected a career in social work, the next step is to decide where to get the best preparation. At Adelphi, we have been training highly skilled professional social workers throughout Long Island, the tri-state area, and across the nation for over 55 years at the B.S.W., M.S.W., and doctoral level. Our field education department provides internships in over 1,000 exciting and highly diverse health, mental health, and social service agencies which enable our students to deepen their training by integrating their classroom and field experiences. In addition, our continuing education department offers a wide range of workshops and post-master's certificate programs for social workers and other human service professionals to enrich their knowledge and skills.
Your educational experience at Adelphi can be tailored to your needs. We offer courses at four sites conveniently located throughout the Greater New York metropolitan area in Garden City, Manhattan, Hauppauge, and Poughkeepsie. Our flexible schedule keeps in mind the demands of people with busy and complicated livesclasses are offered during the daytime, evening, and weekend for our BSW and MSW programs. Our doctoral program is part time and course work is offered in the evening at our main Garden City campus.
One of the most important characteristics of an Adelphi education is that your professors will know you, are committed to your success, and are available to you as you pursue your studies. Our faculty are regarded by their students as exceptional teachers. Students are provided with an extraordinarily rich experience in the classroom due to depth of their professors’ clinical and administrative backgrounds. The faculty are also known and respected nationally and internationally in their areas of interest and have published extensively.
